On a humid afternoon when you cannot go outside, both kids and grownups grow rebellious and annoyed. Assorted inside games can come to the rescue to help you defeat the boredom. Of the numerous board games from which you can select chess is one game that is enjoyed by children and grownups alike. You must have a chess set to enjoy the game.

There are a variety of chess sets you can buy in the market of every material and size like metal, plastic, wood and stone. Usually, Chess is a game played by two players.

Today abruptly I remembered an old forgotten promise. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not myself who has forgot only my cherished husband. He was supposed to buy me a Chess set. It was the most beautiful chess set, that i discovered in the picture window of an secondhand shop. The board was created of a marble type material and its chessmen were of bronze and silver. King, Queen, Rook, Knight, Bishop and Pawn, they all appeared so genuine, included with swords and crowns. It was love at first sight.

I fell in love with that chess set. However we went out of the city and forgot about it. But one day I will make for certain that my husband keeps his promise and then I will write how I made him promise to buy me that particular chess set.

Chess sets arrive in numerous forms and varieties. A Long Time ago I always like to view the chess sets that were available in a corner store in Center City, Philly. The chess sets were molds of art and were retained under a counter behind a glass. Every chess set displayed there had a different theme. Nearly all sets were rather pricey. The chessmen were made of some extraordinary textiles, and did not resemble the chess pieces I possessed in my old cheap plastic chess set.

Sometimes it appeared as if you would have had trouble really playing chess with a themed set, since it is hard to figure out which pieces were which after you started to move them around the board. I was never sure if the people who could afford to purchase those chess sets would really have utilized them in the game. But the different chessmen and styles of chessboards were often gorgeous, and I would have loved to be able to afford to buy one of them.

One of the greatest chess sets that I have ever experienced was crafted by an artist that my younger brother worked for. It possessed a lovely wooden chess board and the chessmen were of moulded pewter. This was really a neat set not only for the artistry but likewise for the idea of the chess set, which was like a scene from the Lord of the Rings picture, complete with dragons, wizards, elves, dwarfs and medieval looking castles.

The one set of pieces were electro copper plated, while the opposing pieces were the color of the pewter. I never got to play on it, but I did have the delight of placing it up at the art exhibits where my brother would try to sell their bosses work.
